Will I need to travel to your office or can everything be completed by e-mail ?

No, there is no need for you to leave your computer to establish a web site. All communication can be conducted via e-mail or post depending on how you wish to submit your web content e.g. via attachments over the net or by post.

How do I submit the text content of my website... ?

This can be done to two ways:

  1. The preferred method is to submit the text via disc [in the post] or by an attachment to an e-mail over the internet. The text should be typed in MS Word or another text formatted medium readable on PC. This method is preferred because it is fast and reduces the need for typing and thus errors.
  2. Typed manuscript, by post or fax. This method is not preferred because of the increased margin for errors due to retyping and proof reading. Large amounts of text my incur added typing fees.

What are keywords, and why do I need them?

As you may or may not know search engines on the internet use 'Keywords' on the index [first page] of your website to list, rank and display your site to visitors.

The words that you and everyone else type into search engines are 'Keywords'. The search engines then search to internet for websites for MATCHING keywords before retrieving them and displaying them on your screen. So it is very important that your site has keywords and that they mirror what you think people will type into search engines to find your services.

Where are the keywords placed on my site?

They are placed on your index page of your website [within the normally hidden 'html' written by your webmaster]. You can view the keywords used on your site in the following way. Bring your index or first page of your website up on the internet. This is often your 'welcome page' or 'home page'. Then click on the 'view' option from the top of your browser and select 'source'. This will bring up a separate window with a large number of text called 'html'. This is the actual computer code used to write that particular page. Within the <Head> section at the top of this page you should find a 'Meta Tag' called 'Keywords' followed by all the actual keywords used for your website.

This means of course, that you can generally see the keywords used on other sites, which can be very helpful when you are trying to decide on your own keywords.

How do I optimize my chosen keywords to maximize their effect?

  1. You can use programs on the internet to check how many time each month certain keywords were used. 'Overture', is one example and can be accessed via our website here.
Simply enter a word to check how often it was used last month and it will also reveal suggested additions or terms you can use as alternatives or extras. These other suggestions may rate a lot higher than your chosen word or term.

  2. Check other sites on the net which are similar or even competitors to yours. By viewing the 'source' code of their index page [as described above] you should be able to view their keywords which may assist you.

If you would like to add to, or change your keywords, simply email your selection to info@stevelomas.com and we will have the changes made within 24 hours.
