By placing a site map file on your website, you enable Google
and other search engines to find out what pages are present and which have
recently changed, and to have them spider your website accordingly. Using site
maps allows you to inform Google and other search engines of the content you
have available on your website, and to direct them to it.
Google site maps are an easy way for you to help improve your coverage in
Google search results.
Google site maps are 'uploaded' directly to Google to increase indexing your
website pages.
What's involved;
- We use a special program to first index your sites pages
- We then edit the resulting links deleting non public
files and renaming them for public use
- A Sitemap.HTML is created for public display in your
websites root directory
- A Sitemap.xml hidden file is created and stored in your
websites root directory for Google
- A Sitemap.csm hidden file is created and stored in your
websites root directory for Google
- The Sitemap.HTML file is built into a page on your
website and linked for public access
- Then the URL of the Sitemap.xml file is submitted to
Google for immediate propagation.
[You receive a confirmation from Google that your sitemap has been received
and indexed]
